Text Box: Principal’s Message
Once again it is time to thank all the volunteers for stepping up and taking on leadership roles in the school. PAC members organized a very successful family dance and cakewalk on February 9th. We had a huge turnout and it was a great success. They also ran a cupcake walk at lunch on Valentine’s Day. The kids had a great time. Almost $400 was raised to support our foster child. Also, thanks to everyone for helping out with the ski races (especially Trina Bysouth for taking on the “coach” position!). Winifred Comeau, the organizer, is still looking for volunteers to help with various aspects of the race so if you can possibly help out before or during the races on Saturday February 25th, I’m sure she would appreciate it. You can reach her at 692-3470. Finally, I would like to thank all the people who have volunteered to help out with our Winter Carnival. The response has been fantastic with people taking on the pancake breakfast and volunteering to help out with all the activities we have planned for the day. Thanks to all of you for all the support!!!

Sincerely,

Mr. Guy Epkens-Shaffer

HOT LUNCH CHANGE

There will be a change to the hot lunch program for March.  The lunch will be served on             Wednesday, March 1st instead of Thursday, March 2nd because of the winter carnival             activities going on.  For the rest of March, the meals will be served on Thursdays as usual.

Winter Carnival

Did you know that Quebec City, the world’s snow capital, held it’s first Winter Carnival in 1894?  Since then, the Winter Carnival has been a welcome relief from winter’s harsh reality.  At M.M.P.S., we are gearing up for a school-wide Winter Carnival and would like to extend a warm welcome to all of you to join us for a morning of fun on Thursday, march 2nd.  The students will be treated to a pancake breakfast to start the day, compliments of the Burns Lake Chapter of Canadian Parents for French and  the P.A.C.  Any parents that are able to help with the breakfast should call Trina Bysouth at 692-7633 or Sherry Pement at 692-7422. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Throughout the day, children will be divided into smaller groups in order to participate in a range of winter activities – curling, skating, skiing, ice fishing, and sliding.

Marian Rose’s Community Dance Project

We are thrilled to welcome Marian Rose (The Dance Lady) to our school for the week of March 6th-10th. Marian will be working with all the classes during this week sharing her love for folk dance.  A family dance will be held on Thursday, March 9th from 6:30 to 8:00 pm in the gym, featuring a live band and local musicians.   On Friday afternoon there will be a school-wide assembly and the students will get the chance to show off some of the impressive dances they have mastered.  We would like to thank Artstarts in Schools and the MMPS PAC for their financial contributions which have made this possible.
